Anytime there is a flammable substance near a source of ignition, a fire can occur. These fires can in turn result in serious burn injuries and possibly permanent scarring.

Recently, two construction workers ended up with pretty severe burns to their faces after a flash fire exploded while they were on the job. The workplace accident happened after the two went to go crank a generator, and somehow propane had leaked into a trailer. There is also the chance that instead of leaking the propane was simply left on.

Either way, when the generator kicked on, the gas ignited and quickly flashed at both of them. This resulted in second degree burns to their faces and other parts of their body.

After the explosion, both of the construction workers -- who were x-ray technicians -- were taken to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

After the accident, fire department officials warned that this kind of accident could happen anywhere there is a flammable substance and some sort of ignition. Naturally, this means there are some professions that have more of a risk than others.

Looking to the future for these two x-ray technicians, depending on how bad the burns were, they could have a long road ahead of them, as some burn injuries are extremely painful and debilitating, and require reconstructive surgery.

However, when these burn injuries are the result of a workplace accident, it is often times possible to be able to receive workers' compensation and other benefits in order to pay for some of those medical expenses, along with psychological counseling.
